Another of the ‘80s Soviet paranoia films, disguised as an action pic. When MI6 learns of the smuggling of world renowned jewels James Bond is assigned to tackle the case. After he crosses paths with a murderous high roller he finds an ally of sorts in an oddly nicknamed smuggler: Octopussy. After dealing with fake jewels, sheep heads and Faberge eggs Bond discovers that the smuggling operation is actually a cover up for a bombing by a mad Soviet officer. A totally unconvincing film, from top to bottom, with a mottled script and a storyline fit for the birds. Great action sequences but confusion dominates.
