What could be more touching than the story of a boy and his dog? Especially presented by the man himself, Walt Disney. In post-Civil War Texas a mother and her two sons are left to fend for themselves when daddy goes on a cattle drive. Amidst the hustle and bustle of farm livin’ a thievin’ ‘ol yeller dawg comes a-runnin’ up and steals their hearts. He becomes more than a pet; he becomes a work dog, watch dog, and a fierce protector. Many adventures await this loyal beast as the days unfold; but many dangers lie ahead as well. For decades children have been enthralled by the escapades of Old Yeller, while their parents look on in misery, ashamed that they have introduced their little ones to such a film, scarring them for life. We all have to grow up some time.
