As Seen On Screen

As Seen on Screen offers readers a chance to see film reviews for the everyman, without all of the clutter and nonsense fed to the average filmgoer. Plain, straitforward, to the point. That's our goal. We offer a diverse catalogue of which to choose from, from silent comedies to modern superhero films. Final note: this is a family friendly blog. We only review films rated G through PG-13, plus the unrated films of yesteryear. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, pull up a crumpet and enjoy. Thanks for your support!

     The Professionals
1966  NR  ACTION  1h 57min
CAST— Lee Marvin, Robert Ryan, Woody Strode, Burt Lancaster, Jack Palance, Ralph Bellamy, Claudia Cardinale
MUSIC— Maurice Jarre  DIRECTOR— Richard Brooks  BASED ON— A Mule for the Marquesa (novel), by Frank O’Rourke

Better they be professionals than amateurs; especially for a job such as this. Lee Marvin and Burt Lancaster play mercenaries, old partners joining forces for one last mission. Together with Woody Strode and Robert Ryan they comprise a team that the baddies wouldn’t want to cross in a dark alley. Their mission, should they choose to accept it: traverse the harsh Mexican desert in search of Ralph Bellamy’s wife, held captive by Mexican revolutionary Jack Palance, a former teammate of Marvin and Lancaster. But seemingly everything is stacked against them: the desert elements, an army of revolutionaries and plot twists along the way. A fun, action packed, Westerny adventure sure to please those in the mood for a tough guy picture.
