     The Secret of Convict Lake
1951  NR  WESTERN  1h 23min
CAST— Glenn Ford
MUSIC— Sol Kaplan  DIRECTOR— Michael Gordon

Rather obscure little dramatic Western that proves to be a forgettable experience. In 1870s California a handful of escaped convicts make their way over a mountain range despite a raging blizzard. They find a quaint little village at the bottom of the slopes, a place to rest and arm themselves. It looks like it’ll be a piece of cake; especially since the town’s men folk have all gone prospecting. While some members of the gang see a hostile takeover as a possibility quiet Glenn Ford steps forward to make the peace… but it’s clear that there is another reason that he’s in town… Good performances, yet unremarkable overall.
OUR RATING— **
