     Arachnophobia
1990  PG-13  SCIENCE FICTION  1h 50min
CAST— Jeff Daniels, Harley Jane Kozak, John Goodman, Julian Sands, Stuart Pankin, Brian McNamara, Mark L. Taylor, Henry Jones, Peter Jason, James Handy
MUSIC— Trevor Jones  DIRECTOR— Frank Marshall

Arachnophobia. Definition: morbid fear of spiders. Jeff Daniels can sympathize with anyone suffering with this affliction. He plays a city doctor relocated to the country… the spider-infested country. Recently the population of eight-legged residents has risen due to a deadly strain of South American spider hitching a ride in a crate that was delivered to this peaceful hamlet. As the body count rises Daniels must race the clock to discover the nest and defeat the king and queen before any more creepy crawlies can hatch. Daniels delivers a suitably panicked performance in the lead, but it’s John Goodman, as a cocky exterminator with a mean aim, that steals the show. This film may inspire you to sleep with a can of Raid in each hand tonight.
OUR RATING— ** ½
