As Seen On Screen

As Seen on Screen offers readers a chance to see film reviews for the everyman, without all of the clutter and nonsense fed to the average filmgoer. Plain, straitforward, to the point. That's our goal. We offer a diverse catalogue of which to choose from, from silent comedies to modern superhero films. Final note: this is a family friendly blog. We only review films rated G through PG-13, plus the unrated films of yesteryear. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, pull up a crumpet and enjoy. Thanks for your support!

     Black Bart
1948  NR  WESTERN  1h 20min
CAST— Yvonne De Carlo
MUSIC— Frank Skinner, Leith Stevens  DIRECTOR— George Sherman

Another Wild West legend brought to life in a mediocre film. The notorious masked outlaw known only as Black Bart is the scourge of California highways, so says Wells Fargo, their transports being systematically ripped off. Only one person knows the secret of Black Bart’s identity: a lusty Spanish dancer (played by Yvonne De Carlo) has seen the man behind the mask and only she can prevent him from pursuing a life of crime. A forgettable Western (though the color photography does stand out). Take it or leave it. AKA Black Bart, Highwayman.
OUR RATING— **
