As Seen On Screen

As Seen on Screen offers readers a chance to see film reviews for the everyman, without all of the clutter and nonsense fed to the average filmgoer. Plain, straitforward, to the point. That's our goal. We offer a diverse catalogue of which to choose from, from silent comedies to modern superhero films. Final note: this is a family friendly blog. We only review films rated G through PG-13, plus the unrated films of yesteryear. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, pull up a crumpet and enjoy. Thanks for your support!

After spending A Night at the Opera the Marx Brothers decide to have A Day at the Races in this classic slapstick comedy. The beautiful young owner of a sanitarium is in need so it’s up to the boys to come to her aid. Heading the team is the new chief of staff (a former veterinarian) who is always quick with the jokes and the ladies. Next, there’s a sly wheeler-dealer ice cream vendor who knows how to score a quick buck. And finally, we have an odd jockey who really doesn’t do much of anything at all. But they’d better hurry; there’s someone who wants to turn the safe haven into a casino adjacent to the race track. The film tends to wander in the third act, but still, plenty of laughs abound.
OUR RATING— ** ½
