As Seen On Screen

As Seen on Screen offers readers a chance to see film reviews for the everyman, without all of the clutter and nonsense fed to the average filmgoer. Plain, straitforward, to the point. That's our goal. We offer a diverse catalogue of which to choose from, from silent comedies to modern superhero films. Final note: this is a family friendly blog. We only review films rated G through PG-13, plus the unrated films of yesteryear. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, pull up a crumpet and enjoy. Thanks for your support!

     The Devil’s Brother
1933  NR  COMEDY  1h 30min
CAST— Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy, Dennis King, Thelma Todd, James Finlayson, Henry Armetta
MUSIC— Daniel Auber  DIRECTORS— Hal Roach, Charles R. Rogers

Low level Laurel and Hardy picture featuring the boys as eighteenth century wannabe bandits who hitch their wagon to a real thief. This marauder, dubbed Diavolo, or Devil, poses as an aristocrat to charm his way into the hearts of noblewomen then fleeces them for all they’re worth. Meanwhile, his assistants bumble their way through everything they set out to do. This lame excuse for an L&H feature is no comparison to their short films but view if you must. AKA: Fra Diavolo, Bogus Bandits.
OUR RATING— * ½
