As Seen On Screen

As Seen on Screen offers readers a chance to see film reviews for the everyman, without all of the clutter and nonsense fed to the average filmgoer. Plain, straitforward, to the point. That's our goal. We offer a diverse catalogue of which to choose from, from silent comedies to modern superhero films. Final note: this is a family friendly blog. We only review films rated G through PG-13, plus the unrated films of yesteryear. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, pull up a crumpet and enjoy. Thanks for your support!

Yet another film in the vault of Hollywood’s recent rash of Japanese horror remakes, Dark Water seems to sink like a stone right from the start. A recently divorced woman and her young daughter move into a seedy apartment building… one that holds a few secrets, of course. The secrets start to leak (quite literally) and the two ladies are caught in the middle. With nothing more than murky, dark water (hence the name) for a clue as to the strange events in the building, this young mother must fight to keep her daughter safe, as well as keep her own sanity intact. Except for an interesting finale, this film has basically nothing to recommend it: No chills, no thrills. That is, unless you’re a plumber or someone who is deathly afraid of toilet blockage.
OUR RATING— * ½
