As Seen On Screen

As Seen on Screen offers readers a chance to see film reviews for the everyman, without all of the clutter and nonsense fed to the average filmgoer. Plain, straitforward, to the point. That's our goal. We offer a diverse catalogue of which to choose from, from silent comedies to modern superhero films. Final note: this is a family friendly blog. We only review films rated G through PG-13, plus the unrated films of yesteryear. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, pull up a crumpet and enjoy. Thanks for your support!

     Ocean’s Eleven
2001  PG-13  COMEDY  1h 57min
CAST— George Clooney, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts
MUSIC— David Holmes  DIRECTOR— Steven Soderbergh

As cool as it gets, this remake of the Rat Pack classic doesn’t disappoint. George Clooney heads up the cast as a very recent parolee who’s already two steps ahead of the game. He begins rounding up an eccentric crew to carry out an elaborate heist involving three Las Vegas casinos (or is that only one casino? It isn’t really clear). A perpetually snacking Brad Pitt is recruited to help sketch out the details of this oh-so risky venture. Elliott Gould is their money man, only in the deal to stick it to fellow Vegas figure Andy Garcia. Garcia, owner of the targeted Bellagio, is a tough customer who holds not only the coveted score but also Clooney’s ex, Julia Roberts (could Clooney have some ulterior motives here?). Add to the mix two bickering brothers, a Chinese acrobat and an indigestion-battling Carl Reiner and the stage is set for newly hired pickpocket Matt Damon to learn the tricks of the trade. A blast from the start this star-studded feature packs quite the wallop. Funny, suspenseful and loaded with charm (despite Don Cheadle’s horrendous rendition of a Cockney accent), don’t miss this one. A treat.
