As Seen On Screen

As Seen on Screen offers readers a chance to see film reviews for the everyman, without all of the clutter and nonsense fed to the average filmgoer. Plain, straitforward, to the point. That's our goal. We offer a diverse catalogue of which to choose from, from silent comedies to modern superhero films. Final note: this is a family friendly blog. We only review films rated G through PG-13, plus the unrated films of yesteryear. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, pull up a crumpet and enjoy. Thanks for your support!

Riveting soap featuring a bravura performance by Robert Mitchum (as if anyone would expect anything less). Mitchum stars as a promising med student suffering from low income. He begins dating Olivia de Havilland (who just so happens to have major funds), whom he eventually marries. There go the financial difficulties. Throughout his studies, internship and later practice his goal is simply to be the best darn doctor on Earth… no matter who he steps on to get there. But trouble brews outside the office as Mitchum begins an affair with a lonely horse breeder. Can Mitchum be the best and fix his desperate domestic straights? Fine performances all around and tense medical ordeals heighten the dramatics in this terrific, if somewhat obscure, film.
OUR RATING— ***
