A post-apocalyptic waste with an interesting premise: vampires and humans have been at war for centuries, culminating in the Catholic church ruling the land, the remaining vampires being placed on reservations. The church has specially trained vampire slayers known as Priests to do the dirty work. One such Priest (Paul Bettany) receives news that his niece has been captured by vampires; Bettany is now determined to rescue the girl, with or without the church’s approval. When the church refuses to comply Bettany and his niece’s boyfriend set out to save the girl from the clutches of the vile blood suckers. Then there’s some stuff about the vampires planning to rule the world, yeah yeah yeah. Seen it. Equal parts Blade (1998) and The Searchers (1956), never as good as either. Unrated version also available.
OUR RATING— * ½
