As Seen On Screen

As Seen on Screen offers readers a chance to see film reviews for the everyman, without all of the clutter and nonsense fed to the average filmgoer. Plain, straitforward, to the point. That's our goal. We offer a diverse catalogue of which to choose from, from silent comedies to modern superhero films. Final note: this is a family friendly blog. We only review films rated G through PG-13, plus the unrated films of yesteryear. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, pull up a crumpet and enjoy. Thanks for your support!

     At the Circus
1939  NR  COMEDY  1h 27min
CAST— Groucho Marx, Chico Marx, Harpo Marx, Margaret Dumont, Eve Arden, Nat Pendleton, Kenny Baker, Fritz Feld, Florence Rice
MUSIC— Harold Arlen  DIRECTOR— Edward Buzzell

The famous comedy team is back for yet another romp, this time (you guessed it) at the circus. The owner of said circus is searching for ten thousand dollars that was stolen from him and he enlists the boys to help. But they have to get past a crooked manager, a bitter aerialist and a towering strongman to find it. A few circus stunts are the highlight of the film. The Marx Brothers strive to find the funny but come up short in this flat comedy that even a clown wouldn’t laugh at. AKA The Marx Brothers At the Circus.
OUR RATING— * ½
