Take a vacation (whether you want to or
not) with Robin Williams in this family-oriented road trip movie. Williams is
an ostracized office worker constantly bossed around by his superior Will
Arnett. In order to follow Arnett's whims Williams must cancel his Hawaiian
vacation, much to the chagrin of his family. His new orders are to travel to
the Rockies and persuade an independent soda company to merge with Arnett's
conglomerate. Williams hides this fact from his family by saying, hey, let's
all take a bonding trip to the Rockies. The plan being to rent the gaudiest
recreational vehicle in existence and make an adventure of it, with the family
again less than enthused. Things go fine, despite a mopey family, leaky,
spewing sewage hoses and Williams' desperate need to write a business
presentation on the sly. To make matters even worse they all constantly run
into an odd family, veterans of life on the road, who try their best to be
hospitable to Williams and family, but just end up being vastly annoying. But
these guys may just be useful to Williams' travels and even in his familial
relationships. The real reason to watch is of course Williams and the antics he
stumbles into, but the supporting cast is also worth noting, especially Jeff
Daniels and Arnett. So whether you're one who likes to camp in an RV or would
rather rough it at the Hilton, all types should enjoy this trip. Razzie-winner
for Worst Excuse for Family Entertainment. AKA Runaway
Vacation.
