As Seen On Screen

As Seen on Screen offers readers a chance to see film reviews for the everyman, without all of the clutter and nonsense fed to the average filmgoer. Plain, straitforward, to the point. That's our goal. We offer a diverse catalogue of which to choose from, from silent comedies to modern superhero films. Final note: this is a family friendly blog. We only review films rated G through PG-13, plus the unrated films of yesteryear. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, pull up a crumpet and enjoy. Thanks for your support!

     The Roommate
2011  PG-13  HORROR  1h 34min
CAST— Leighton Meester, Minka Kelly
MUSIC— John Frizzell  DIRECTOR— Christian E. Christiansen

Who do you live with? A psycho, huh? So does Minka Kelly in this pointless thriller that is sorely lacking in thrills. Kelly is off to college where she meets her roommate Leighton Meester, the aforementioned nutcase. But of course Kelly has no clue as to her roommate’s mental state; Kelly sees Meester as a quiet youth who prefers the books to the bars. Maybe she’s a little overbearing, a tad over-protective. But Kelly soon sees Meester’s true colors as Meester begins meddling with Kelly’s friends, professors and her boyfriend. To Kelly, Meester has gone too far; to the audience she never goes far enough. To be honest we’ve all seen better stalker flicks than this. Maybe instead of wasting time on this drivel one might wanna watch BLANK again. (Please fill in the blank with whatever slasher film may apply.)
OUR RATING— * ½
