     The Rocker
2008  PG-13  COMEDY  1h 42min
CAST— Rainn Wilson
MUSIC— Chad Fischer  DIRECTOR— Peter Cattaneo

I Wanna Rock”, “Rock of Ages”, “Rock You Like a Hurricane”, etc., etc. The point of this collection of mind numbing display of power chords and hairspray? We could go “Round and Round” but no more “Sweating Bullets”. Rainn Wilson plays drummer “Fish” Fishman, once part of ‘80s metal band Vesuvius. After being dethroned as the king of the drum kit, Fish spends twenty “Hollow Years” drifting through life. That is until his nephew’s laid back garage band needs a drummer for a gig. After that he’s “Flying High Again”, his life seemingly back on track. Things really “Jump” forward when a video surfaces on the internet of him playing the drums in a most embarrassing fashion. Now dubbed “The Naked Drummer”, Fish becomes an internet sensation, and his new band becomes the nation’s hottest touring group. He becomes the rock star that time forgot, while his band mates look on in perplexity. Along his journey he learns that “Every Rose Has its Thorn” and that if you “Take the Time” you just might learn something about yourself. A silly comedy with a moral, but what did you expect, “It’s Only Make Believe” (where did that one come from?).
OUR RATING— ** ½
