As Seen On Screen

As Seen on Screen offers readers a chance to see film reviews for the everyman, without all of the clutter and nonsense fed to the average filmgoer. Plain, straitforward, to the point. That's our goal. We offer a diverse catalogue of which to choose from, from silent comedies to modern superhero films. Final note: this is a family friendly blog. We only review films rated G through PG-13, plus the unrated films of yesteryear. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, pull up a crumpet and enjoy. Thanks for your support!

     The Dark Crystal
1982  PG  FANTASY  1h 33min
CAST— N/A
MUSIC— Trevor Jones  DIRECTORS— Jim Henson, Frank Oz

A highly imaginative fantasy featuring creations from the Jim Henson Creature Shop. A vision of good and evil is seen through the eyes of Gelfling Jen, sent by the gentle Mystics to replace a crystal shard into the ancient Dark Crystal, ruled over by the cruel Skeksis. Jen must traverse a world full of dangerous creatures, sinister enemies, and some seriously creepy puppets. Definitely not for the little ones; frightening images abound. Few moments of fun, but gains points for ingenuity.
OUR RATING— ** ½
