Dinner for Schmucks
2010 PG-13 COMEDY 1h 54min
CAST— Steve Carell, Paul Rudd

A film that revels in creepiness, Dinner for Schmucks is an over-long waste. Paul Rudd is an eager financial executive determined to impress his boss by participating in the boss’ monthly tradition of bringing a monumental loser to a dinner party. On his way home, Rudd runs into Steve Carell, a meager IRS agent/taxidermist with more than a few issues. Carell manages to ruin Rudd’s life in a matter of forty-eight hours as they traipse through a comic misadventure that involves a crazy stalker, a self-absorbed artist and mind control. The film tries to be funny, even starts out that way, but gets mired down in nasty emotion and dialogue, resulting in the viewer feeling the need for a shower. Skip it.
