As Seen On Screen

As Seen on Screen offers readers a chance to see film reviews for the everyman, without all of the clutter and nonsense fed to the average filmgoer. Plain, straitforward, to the point. That's our goal. We offer a diverse catalogue of which to choose from, from silent comedies to modern superhero films. Final note: this is a family friendly blog. We only review films rated G through PG-13, plus the unrated films of yesteryear. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, pull up a crumpet and enjoy. Thanks for your support!

     The Hound of the Baskervilles
1959  NR  DRAMA  1h 27min
CAST— Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Andre Morell, Maria Landi, Miles Malleson, John LeMesurier

Beware the moors. In a fine film adaptation of perhaps one of the greatest cases of the brilliant Sherlock Holmes, Peter Cushing (playing the master sleuth) wanders the misty moors of the English countryside in answer to a legend. The Baskerville family is in grave danger from a menace that takes a hideous shape in the night. Is the answer elementary or something of a sinister nature? Fine production, leading to atmospheric (almost damp) chills. Don’t catch a cold.
OUR RATING— ** ½
ORIGINAL— The Hound of the Baskervilles (1939)
REMADE AS— The Hound of the Baskervilles (1978)
