As Seen On Screen

As Seen on Screen offers readers a chance to see film reviews for the everyman, without all of the clutter and nonsense fed to the average filmgoer. Plain, straitforward, to the point. That's our goal. We offer a diverse catalogue of which to choose from, from silent comedies to modern superhero films. Final note: this is a family friendly blog. We only review films rated G through PG-13, plus the unrated films of yesteryear. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, pull up a crumpet and enjoy. Thanks for your support!

     Having Wonderful Time
1938  NR  COMEDY 1h 10min
CAST— Ginger Rogers, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., Peggy Conklin, Lucille Ball, Lee Bowman, Eve Arden, Dorothea Kent, Richard (Red) Skelton, Donald Meek, Jack Carson, Allan Lane, Grady Sutton
MUSIC— Roy Webb  DIRECTOR— Alfred Santell  BASED ON— “Having Wonderful Time” (play), by Arthur Kober

The ever charming Ginger Rogers stars in this marginally entertaining frolic. She plays a harried typist who takes a cleansing vacation away from it all at Camp Kare Free. There she is at first annoyed by then charmed by camp employee Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. And that’s pretty much it in this forgettable fluff. Feature film debut for Red Skelton, whose activities director puts on a few one-man skits. Have wonderful time.
OUR RATING— **
