As Seen On Screen

As Seen on Screen offers readers a chance to see film reviews for the everyman, without all of the clutter and nonsense fed to the average filmgoer. Plain, straitforward, to the point. That's our goal. We offer a diverse catalogue of which to choose from, from silent comedies to modern superhero films. Final note: this is a family friendly blog. We only review films rated G through PG-13, plus the unrated films of yesteryear. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, pull up a crumpet and enjoy. Thanks for your support!

Super silly spy spoof sporting spontaneous Brit Rowan Atkinson as 007 wannabe English. Johnny English. After a bomb wipes out Her Majesty’s secret service it’s up to English to save the day when the Crown Jewels are stolen. As he bumbles and fumbles his way about it seems that new evil is afoot: the Crown Jewel job was but a clever ruse; the real crime has yet to occur. It seems a mad Frenchman, one trusted and beloved by the general public, has plans to usurp the throne and have himself declared king of England. Mon Dieu. Well not if Johnny English has anything to say about it. After he’s finished wooing the ladies, that is (as if). It’s the kind of film you have every reason to dislike, but you can’t help but be entertained. Not as heavy as Bond, not as brainless as Bean.
OUR RATING— ** ½
FOLLOWED BY— Johnny English Reborn (2011)
