As Seen On Screen

As Seen on Screen offers readers a chance to see film reviews for the everyman, without all of the clutter and nonsense fed to the average filmgoer. Plain, straitforward, to the point. That's our goal. We offer a diverse catalogue of which to choose from, from silent comedies to modern superhero films. Final note: this is a family friendly blog. We only review films rated G through PG-13, plus the unrated films of yesteryear. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, pull up a crumpet and enjoy. Thanks for your support!

     Johnson Family Vacation
2004  PG-13  COMEDY  1h 37min
CAST— Cedric the Entertainer, Bow Wow, Vanessa Williams, Shannon Elizabeth, Steve Harvey
MUSIC— Richard Gibbs  DIRECTOR— Christopher Erskin

Another comedy that proves what a family road trip really is: a highway nightmare. Cedric the Entertainer plays an insurance man who looks forward to his family reunion. If only his family felt the same. They hop into his cherished Lincoln Navigator and off they head to Missouri, with a few stops in between, of course. The family also contends with a mad trucker, a young hitchhiker with odd habits, and time behind bars. Sure, the film is a “been there, done that” experience from the start, but surprisingly it works. Its main asset is the cast, which keeps the film afloat. Apart from a few drug references the film is relatively family friendly, but parents may still want to review first.
OUR RATING— ** ½
