Who doesn’t love dinosaurs? Especially when they’re loose on a small island, on a rampage, eating everyone who has the misfortune to cross their path. That’s what JP is all about, baby. Paleontologist Sam Neill and paleobotanist Laura Dern are invited to attend a sneak-peek of a new theme park that’s right up their alley, so says park owner John Hammond, played by Richard Attenborough. After arriving, they discover the truth behind those words, as they see Hammond’s creation: living, breathing dinosaurs. They start out on an automated tour of the park, and then things start to go, uh, wrong. Dinosaurs break out of their confinements and start hunting. People. Some big names and big talents went into making this film, and it shows. There are some good performances (Jeff Goldblum is an excellent example), but who cares? These dinos are the best ever put on screen. A modern day classic. Oscar-winner for Best Sound, Best Sound Effects Editing, and Best Visual Effects.
