As Seen On Screen

As Seen on Screen offers readers a chance to see film reviews for the everyman, without all of the clutter and nonsense fed to the average filmgoer. Plain, straitforward, to the point. That's our goal. We offer a diverse catalogue of which to choose from, from silent comedies to modern superhero films. Final note: this is a family friendly blog. We only review films rated G through PG-13, plus the unrated films of yesteryear. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, pull up a crumpet and enjoy. Thanks for your support!

     My Dream is Yours
1949  NR  COMEDY  1h 41min
CAST— Jack Carson, Doris Day, Lee Bowman, Adolphe Menjou, Eve Arden
MUSIC— Harry Warren  DIRECTOR— Michael Curtiz

The pathway to fame is rocky, indeed. Just ask Doris Day in this light-hearted musical comedy from director Michael Curtiz. Talent agent Jack Carson, just released from a longtime gig, hits the road in search of fresh new talent. He finds said talent in Day and off they head to Hollywood in pursuit of a musical career. They pound the streets, hunting for a promising opportunity but success eludes them. Fine cast highlights this standard fluff; interesting dream sequence featuring Bugs Bunny and Tweety Bird; the drawbacks are monotony and too many unremarkable musical moments. Just so-so.
OUR RATING— **
