As Seen On Screen

As Seen on Screen offers readers a chance to see film reviews for the everyman, without all of the clutter and nonsense fed to the average filmgoer. Plain, straitforward, to the point. That's our goal. We offer a diverse catalogue of which to choose from, from silent comedies to modern superhero films. Final note: this is a family friendly blog. We only review films rated G through PG-13, plus the unrated films of yesteryear. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, pull up a crumpet and enjoy. Thanks for your support!

A charming fable that effectively blends comedy, drama, romance and fantasy. Christina Ricci plays the title heroine, a spirited, if somewhat subdued, twenty-something still under the protective wing of her parents. The world knows little about her; and with good reason. For you see, she has the nose of a pig. Truly. Many years ago a curse was placed upon her family and she got stuck with the short end of the stick. To end the curse she must find her one true love. Or something. Anyway, her mother tries in vain to hook her up with the best bluebloods in town but they seem to have an aversion to snuggling with the humanized form of Miss Piggy. Eventually one guy sticks around and an amiable relationship develops between the two. But could romance be in their future…? A fine film for parents and daughters to enjoy (sorry, boys; this one was made almost exclusively for sis), maybe sharing a big ol’ bowl of pork rinds.
OUR RATING— ** ½
