As Seen On Screen

As Seen on Screen offers readers a chance to see film reviews for the everyman, without all of the clutter and nonsense fed to the average filmgoer. Plain, straitforward, to the point. That's our goal. We offer a diverse catalogue of which to choose from, from silent comedies to modern superhero films. Final note: this is a family friendly blog. We only review films rated G through PG-13, plus the unrated films of yesteryear. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, pull up a crumpet and enjoy. Thanks for your support!

     Pee-wee’s Big Adventure
1985  PG  COMEDY  1h 31min
CAST— Pee-wee Herman, Elizabeth Daily, Mark Holton, Diane Salinger, Judd Omen
MUSIC— Danny Elfman  DIRECTOR— Tim Burton

Pee-wee Herman (AKA Paul Reubens) delivers a completely believable performance as, well, himself in this, the feature film directorial debut of Tim Burton. Oh, no! Pee-wee’s one-of-a-kind bicycle has been stolen, and it’s up to him to solve the mystery and find the bike. So, off he goes on a misguided, fun-filled, cross-country journey to San Antonio, Texas to find his bike, supposedly hidden in the basement of the Alamo. Little does he know the deep, dark secret of the Alamo: IT HAS NO BASEMENT!!! Oh, well. We all enjoy the ride as Pee-wee meets up with interesting characters and hilarious adventures. With many great lines and a few cameos (including Twisted Sister!), Pee-wee’s Big Adventure is a great chance to see Pee-wee Herman in his prime. Don’t deny it; you know you love it!
