     Man on a Ledge
2012  PG-13  DRAMA 1h 42min
CAST— Sam Worthington, Elizabeth Banks, Jamie Bell, Anthony Mackie, Génesis Rodríguez, Ed Harris
MUSIC— Henry Jackman  DIRECTOR— Asger Leth

What an amazing, thought-provoking title for a movie, one that will doubtless inspire intense speculation as to its mysterious meaning. Sam Worthington plays a former police officer framed for stealing a priceless diamond from a wealthy financier (Ed Harris). Now an involuntary guest of Sing Sing Worthington plots his redemption. After a daring escape he sets in motion a convoluted plan that will expose corruption, not only in the financial world, but also on the very police force he once believed in. To do so he must trust a burned out detective, his own slacker brother, and avoid looking down from the ledge that he’s perched on high above NYC. A moderately entertaining thriller that combines elements of Fourteen Hours (1951) and Topkapi (1964), though not as dated as either. Never really grabs you; then again, it doesn’t leave you hanging, either.
OUR RATING— ** ½
