Cary Grant takes on the ultimate project in this classic comedy highlighting just some of the trials and tribulations of building a home. Jim Blandings and his wife, native New Yorkers, decide to move to peaceful Connecticut in an attempt to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. After buying a house, they find out that it’s structurally unstable. So they tear it down. Soon construction begins on a new home, and soon the money starts to fly out the window, much to Mr. Blandings’ chagrin. After multiple setbacks and difficulties the house is completed, but is Mr. Blandings still sane? This film teaches us how to draw a blueprint, tells us everything about color schemes, and who could forget, “Wham!”?
