As Seen On Screen

As Seen on Screen offers readers a chance to see film reviews for the everyman, without all of the clutter and nonsense fed to the average filmgoer. Plain, straitforward, to the point. That's our goal. We offer a diverse catalogue of which to choose from, from silent comedies to modern superhero films. Final note: this is a family friendly blog. We only review films rated G through PG-13, plus the unrated films of yesteryear. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, pull up a crumpet and enjoy. Thanks for your support!

The Monster That Challenged the World
1957  NR  SCIENCE FICTION  1h 23min
CAST— Tim Holt, Audrey Dalton
MUSIC— Heinz Roemheld  DIRECTOR— Arnold Laven

Swim! Swim for your lives! Naval personnel are stationed near a remote sea smack dab in the middle of the arid desert. When a boat crew disappears on the water people realize that something’s fishy. Those sent to investigate soon see the problem: it’s a monster… and it’s challenging the world! But not just any monster; this baby looks like a gigantic caterpillar, one that pops out of the water, terrorizing at a whim. The Navy approaches their problem with a scientific eye, seeking answers; can they kill it, and if so, how? Gripping from beginning to end… wait that’s a different movie. This movie barely qualifies as a movie. It’s so shoddily performed, by man and “beast”, that it’s actually fun to watch. For those in the mood for an entertaining B look no further. AKA The  Jagged Edge, The Kraken.
OUR RATING— * ½
