     Mr. & Mrs. Smith
1941  NR  COMEDY  1h 34min
CAST— Carole Lombard, Robert Montgomery, Gene Raymond, Jack Carson, Philip Merivale, Betty Compson, Lucille Watson
MUSIC— Edward Ward  DIRECTOR— Alfred Hitchcock

Hitchcock does a complete 180 with this comedy that proves he had an eye for the lighter side. He chronicles the tale of a man and wife who separately learn that their marriage was never completely legit. Though they both know this bit of shocking news he never tells her. Big mistake. She leaves him and enters the dating scene; he stops at nothing to win her back. The film putters along until the last half hour, which provides plenty of laughs. A bit of a Hitchcockian novelty, but fans should find it interesting.
OUR RATING— **
