Big Momma’s House 2
2006 PG-13 COMEDY 1h 39min
CAST— Martin Lawrence, Nia Long, Emily Procter, Zachary Levi
MUSIC— George S. Clinton DIRECTOR— John Whitesell
You back for another helpin’ of Big Momma’s cookin’? Martin Lawrence returns as the portly undercover grandmother, this time to infiltrate a cyber crime ring. To do so he dons the familiar… uh, disguise and becomes a live-in nanny. He just happens to be “living-in” with a large mover and shaker in the crime ring. But before he can do his job as an FBI agent, Big Momma has chores to do. Housecleaning, laundry, pet care, and, oh yeah, the kids. There’s the typical modern movie family: the teenage daughter gone Goth, the sweet daughter who wants nothing more than to dance, and the weird one, the son who jumps off of high places, lands on his head, and repeats. Apparently the father is a workaholic and neglects his children, and the mother is so caught up in her own life that she just doesn’t have time for the kids. So on top of trying to be an undercover agent and taking care of the entire house, Big Momma has to reunite this family, preferably in a touching, tearful hug fest, yet still maintaining enough wit that the average movie-goer doesn’t get bored. The film is fine by modern standards, but the charm of the first film is almost entirely lost. But look on the bright side: You do get to see Big Momma in a sleek bathing suit, running in slo-mo along the beach.
