As Seen On Screen

As Seen on Screen offers readers a chance to see film reviews for the everyman, without all of the clutter and nonsense fed to the average filmgoer. Plain, straitforward, to the point. That's our goal. We offer a diverse catalogue of which to choose from, from silent comedies to modern superhero films. Final note: this is a family friendly blog. We only review films rated G through PG-13, plus the unrated films of yesteryear. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, pull up a crumpet and enjoy. Thanks for your support!

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
2009  PG  ANIMATED  1h 34min
CAST— Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Simon Pegg, Queen Latifah, Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, Bill Hader, Chris Wedge, Jane Lynch, Kristin Wiig
MUSIC— John Powell  DIRECTOR— Carlos Saldanha

After the lackluster previous installment, this icy trek is an adventurous improvement. Ellie is with mammoth and Manny is a nervous wreck. Diego once again wants to split and Manny feels out of place. Sid decides to start his own herd by adopting three unhatched eggs, you know, the kind that hold dinosaurs. When the eggs hatch their dino mother takes them (and Sid) back home: a lush valley of prehistoric life where danger lurks around every corner. Manny and co. form a rescue party, join a crazed weasel and birth a baby, all while facing imminent death. More action, less crude humor than last time with a definite flair for flashy animation. Stay cool. Originally filmed in 3-D.
OUR RATING— ** ½
PRECEDED BY— Ice Age (2002), Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006)
FOLLOWED BY— Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012), Ice Age: Collision Course (2016)
