The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
2008  PG-13  DRAMA  2h 46min
CAST— Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, Taraji P. Henson, Julia Ormond, Jason Flemyng, Elias Koteas, Tilda Swinton
MUSIC— Alexandre Desplat  DIRECTOR— David Fincher  BASED ON— The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (story), by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Curious, indeed. This affecting film chronicles the life of one Benjamin Button, a man whose extraordinary story deserves to be told. Born as deteriorated as a man in his eighties, Benjamin thusly ages in reverse, regressing as the years pass by. As a child he meets Daisy, the girl of his dreams. Over the years, as he grows younger she grows older; somewhere in the middle they meet and a passionate romance unfolds. But can their love sustain them through the trials ahead? Don’t misinterpret; the movie isn’t a pure soap opera. You also get colorful vignettes chock full of humor, tragedy, and more than a touch of fantasy. An amazing film that should delight those in the mood for something different (and long; bordering on three hours). A true pleasure. Oscar-winner for Best Art Direction, Best Makeup, Best Visual Effects.
OUR RATING— *** ½
