As Seen On Screen

As Seen on Screen offers readers a chance to see film reviews for the everyman, without all of the clutter and nonsense fed to the average filmgoer. Plain, straitforward, to the point. That's our goal. We offer a diverse catalogue of which to choose from, from silent comedies to modern superhero films. Final note: this is a family friendly blog. We only review films rated G through PG-13, plus the unrated films of yesteryear. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, pull up a crumpet and enjoy. Thanks for your support!

     Hot Shots! Part Deux
1993  PG-13  COMEDY  1h 26min
CAST— Charlie Sheen, Lloyd Bridges, Valeria Golino, Brenda Bakke, Richard Crenna
MUSIC— Basil Poledouris  DIRECTOR— Jim Abrahams

Topper Harley is back in this funny (if not so original) sequel to 1991’s Hot Shots!. This time director Jim Abrahams gives us a spoof of, primarily, the Rambo movies. Charlie Sheen as Topper, muscle-bound, gun in hand, goes on a rescue mission to save his former commanding officer, played by Richard Crenna, spoofing his own role in the aforementioned Rambo flicks. Its many funny moments, from parodies of Lady and the Tramp (1955) to the Star Wars films, just can’t quite live up to its predecessor. Still, we do get plenty of action and laughs. But one sad fact is that it doesn’t give us any more helpful information about the dreadful visual disorder Walleye Vision. The people need to know!
OUR RATING— ** ½
PRECEDED BY— Hot Shots! (1991)
