     The Creeping Flesh
1973  PG  HORROR  1h 34min
CAST— Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Lorna Heilbron, George Benson
MUSIC— Paul Ferris  DIRECTOR— Freddie Francis

Victorian-era horror piece concerning professor Peter Cushing’s search to discover a “cure” for evil. When he returns home from afar he brings company: an odd skeleton dating before any known fossil of primitive man. One peculiarity surrounding the skeleton is the weird thing that happens when exposed to water; once bone encounters water said bone grows living tissue around it. Cushing somehow comes to the conclusion that this skeleton is evil personified, creates what he believes to be an inoculation and (like any loving parent) injects his daughter with it, lest she come down with a mental disorder like her mother before her. Goofy Hammer-esqe chiller that has its moments but don’t expect to feel your flesh crawling.
OUR RATING— **
