1943  NR  DRAMA  1h 39min
CAST— Edward G. Robinson, Glenn Ford, Marguerite Chapman
MUSIC— Anthony Collins  DIRECTOR— William A. Seiter

Mediocre WWII drama thinly disguised as an action flick. The naval destroyer John Paul Jones was lost in battle, and who is better suited to engineer the next John Paul Jones than Edward G. Robinson, a former officer who served on the original ship? Robinson and crew lovingly prepare a sequel worthy of carrying the respected name. Robinson can’t bear the thought of his new baby on a maiden voyage without him. After enlisting again he is honored to serve on his ship; but trouble soon brews when he butts heads with a cocky young sailor (Glenn Ford) who views Robinson as a an old man who will hinder productivity onboard. Completely forgettable, even though the two leads hand in fine performances.
