As Seen On Screen

As Seen on Screen offers readers a chance to see film reviews for the everyman, without all of the clutter and nonsense fed to the average filmgoer. Plain, straitforward, to the point. That's our goal. We offer a diverse catalogue of which to choose from, from silent comedies to modern superhero films. Final note: this is a family friendly blog. We only review films rated G through PG-13, plus the unrated films of yesteryear. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, pull up a crumpet and enjoy. Thanks for your support!

     Heaven With a Gun
1969  NR  WESTERN  1h 41min
CAST— Glenn Ford, Carolyn Jones, Barbara Hershey, John Anderson, David Carradine
MUSIC— Johnny Mandel  DIRECTOR— Lee H. Katzin

Glenn Ford rides into a town being devoured by a land war and he hopes to leave his mark on both sides. Both cattle men and sheep herders are killing over the same grazing lands and watering holes. Both sides see Ford’s proficiency with a .44 and take him for a gunslinger for hire. When both sides go to him, willing to pay for his services they find that he is indeed packing iron, but he’s no gunslinger, he’s a preacher! Throughout the film he tries to promote unity between the two feuding factions, whether it be in his modest livery stable of a church or out on the range. Don’t misinterpret; this is still a Western with action and bullets and stuff, just in modest amounts.
OUR RATING— ** ½
