     The Phantom of the Opera
1925  NR  DRAMA  1h 41min
CAST— Lon Chaney, Mary Philbin, Norman Kerry, Snitz Edwards, Gibson Gowland
MUSIC— Silent  DIRECTOR— Rupert Julian  BASED ON— The Phantom of the Opera (novel), by Gaston Leroux

Lon Chaney stars in this classic silent chiller, a testament to the genius of his craft. He plays the legendary Phantom, a man disfigured, living amongst the hollow chambers and passages beneath the grand opera house of Paris. He stalks the hallways of the opera, where he falls in love with a beautiful singer. But it seems as though her terror of him outweighs his love for her. The classic unmasking still packs a punch and the scenes of the Bal Masque are highly colorful. Don’t miss out. Deemed “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” by the United States Library of Congress National Film Registry.
